6 NEW TECHNOLOGIES

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

RESEARCH

PINTEREST – Pinterest is a very useful tool as it displays many images with a description attached (which can be changed or altered to suit your own boards). I created 3 'pins' for my character research that consisted of the main social groups. https://uk.pinterest.com/callumdrewett/

PIKTOCHART – Piktochart is a graphical and visual tool that allows us to structure research clearly alongside ‘pictures’ for visual effect and appearance. I used it to present my research into how films use opening credits https://magic.piktochart.com/dashboard
BLOGGER – I use Blogger because it helps structure each part of my research and many other areas as well as hosting my academic work. http://callumdrewett.blogspot.co.uk/

TWITTER – This application is one of the main social media platforms as it reaches a wide and huge audience (around the world). I produced my account and followed many people and organizations in the media world for inspirations. I read an article by Alan Rusbridger about the usefulness of Twitter as a research tool. Alan Rusbridger: Why Twitter matters

YOUTUBE – YouTube is a huge platform as it also reaches a wide and huge audience. I used it to research many aspects which has been very useful as it shows certain things very clearly due to the format of presentation. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3vT0n9flexkoW84qFVm9Jw

SLIDESHARE – I also used this to create my presentation of one of my Art of the Title’s. It is a very simple but complex looking software which artistically displays the presentation I produced.

EMAZE - I used Emaze to present my Art of the Title research. It was an extremely useful presentational tool. It prides itself on visuals and graphics. It is a unique alternative to PowerPoint. It also offered pre-prepared templates which fit perfectly with my research.

ART OF THE TITLE – I used Art of the Title to research other successful film openings. I also used it to learn and research the codes and conventions for film openings and what makes them so successful. http://www.artofthetitle.com/

PLANNING

TRELLO – I used this specific software to plan and organise my work as it is extremely useful. An example of this was my Art of the Title work. This tool was not only keeping me in my deadlines, but successfully meeting them due to aiding my structure of work.
PINTEREST – This tool specialises in availability and flexibility of information alongside images. This successfully helped my plan work.
CONSTRUCTION

CANON REBEL T4I - We used this camera due to its High Definition and due to the availability of it. Due to it being personal property. It also had a large memory capacity.

IMOVIE – My group and I used this editing tool as our editing software due to the advantages that it brings as well as the fact that it was easy to understand and grasp. It was also great that it was available for us to use.

EVALUATION

YOUTUBE - I uploaded my final production to Youtube. Where I was able to receive feedback from my peers, I was also able to use it to answer Question 1 of my evaluation questions. My work will also form a part of Claremont Media’s Youtube account.

FACEBOOK – We made a Facebook page for our film and it helped us on how to evaluate it by receiving feedback.
